Early life on the Chesapeake Bay

The Chesapeake and Potomac Regional Chapter (CPRC) of the Society for Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) is a regional chapter of
SETAC-North America (NA). SETAC-CPRC started in the year 1983. Like the national organization, SETAC-CPRC is comprised of a mixture of members working in government, industry, private sector (e.g., consulting) and academic jobs. SETAC-CPRC currently has over 100 members.
SETAC-CPRC’s mission is to promote the exchange of information among environmental scientists in the mid-Atlantic states. In particular, the organization facilitates and supports graduate student research and presentations at the SETAC-NA meetings. The SETAC-CPRC web site serves as a resource for the members and the local scientific community. The site features an update on current chapter activities and items of regional interest. The site also contains links to the current and SETAC-CPRC newsletters, as well as links to membership information, contact information for the current officers and board members, critical information for the upcoming meetings, job announcements, useful links to other sites including SETAC-NA and information on our annual award programs to graduate students and distinguished service.
SETAC-CPRC promotes student activities and will continue to serve student members by providing opportunities to find jobs, graduate schools, internships, and volunteer opportunities. SETAC-CPRC provides students a forum to present research papers and posters. Successful students receive research awards and support for travel to national meetings.
SETAC-CPRC's expansion depends on corporate sponsorship. Following the lead of other regional chapters, SETAC-CPRC reached out to organizations in our area for support of our activities and to provide funds for student involvement, web site expansion, and meeting subsidies. We expect additional corporate grants and sponsorship in the future, which will allow CPRC to better serve the needs of the professionals and students in our region.
